Movie Night was all the Rage

I went to the Sigma Tau Delta (English Honors Society) movie night tonight at school and we ended up having the most fun. Sadly, the party was comprised of only both Whitneys, Amanda, Teresa, Shawn, Michelle (I think that's the right name, but I'm not sure because I don't know her) and myself and Shawn left early, missing all the fun.

There we were, snuggled up under the blankets watching Gwyneth Paltrow play Emma when Teresa came running into the room to tell us there were fire trucks down the street. We calmly go back to watching the movie as she heads outside to find out what's going on. Moments later, she re-enters to tell us that Martin Hall is being evacuated. We all run outside to find out what's going on.

Outside, we see four fire trucks lined on Wesleyan St. along with a few police cars. No campus security guards in sight. Martin Hall is all ablaze with lights and the fire alarms continue to go off. Looking through the windows, we can see smoke filling the area. Still no one knows what's going on.

By this time, Whitney F. has contacted one of the newspaper photographers to come over so she can put the incident in the paper. Whitney spent much of her time talking with people to find out more information for the article.

Eventually we learned that there wasn't a fire at all. Someone was goofing off upstairs playing with a fire extinguisher. That caused all the smoke in the building.

No fire. I have to say that I am kind of disappointed because of the build up and then the climax of the story falls flat of expectations. Oh well. That's the way the world works.

When we went back inside to finish the movie, we called Shawn to let him know about all the fun he missed. Shawn, aren't you sorry you left?

Oh, in case you were wondering, campus security finally showed up about 15 minutes later. Something should be done about their reaction time. What if Martin Hall really had caught on fire? Hopefully the on duty security officers will be reprimanded, but I seriously doubt anything will be done.

About Cookie Entry

Hey everyone. I bet you were wondering what was going on with the cookie thing. I wrote it in my web class because we were trying out google groups with blog updates. The plan was for our google group to alert members when we posted a new blog, but instead it was sending the entire blog post to the members through e-mail, so we deleted the google groups in question. The blog is staying up though because Whitney and I were having fun playing around. You can see what she put on her blog about the cookie thing here: http://whitlallen.blogspot.com.

The Wonders of Cookies-Brittany

Cookies must be the work of the devil because they make you hyper and then bad things can happen (Whitney dared me to write this). Whitney is slandering my name in her blog about cookies. Don't listen to anything she says.

No really, I like making cookies almost as much as I like to eat them, though I rarely get to eat any when I make them because my dad gets to them first. My favorite type of cookies are white chocolate macadamia nut, though I rarely make them at home. Normally, I make simple chocolate chip cookies and more times than not I just buy the break about cookies that are so much easier to make.

Red Sky at Night

Beautiful Sunset
Posted by Picasa
Actually, I just found out how to post pics on my blog so I was trying it out. Do you guys like the image? It always makes me think of the saying: "Red sky at night, vampires delight; red sky in the morning, vampires take warning." That could just be because I like reading vampire tales.

My Busy Weekend

Let's see, where to start? Sorry I haven't updated more often but I have been extremely busy these last few days. I have two major assignments due on Tuesday this week: my first Humanities portfolio and an art analysis paper for Style and Structure. I haven't finished either one yet, but do not give up hope. I will have them both finished soon. All I have left for the paper is a final copy, which means I just need to go back and revise. That should take a few hours tops. On the Humanities portfolio, I still finished the response journal, which takes up the most amount of time, so I only have about 6 pages left to do total, 3 value assessments and 3 responses to those values.

Never fear, I did get to have some fun this weekend as well. Last night I went to see the new Pride and Prejudice with Trey (the guy I mentioned on Tuesday's entry). It was wonderful. I have yet to decide which version I like better, this one or the A & E version. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend that you do. It is currently at the Movies 8 in North Richland Hills ($1 before 6pm, $1.50 after and only $0.50 all day Tuesday). I am counting down to the DVD release date: April 11th for those who are interested.

After the movie, I came home to hang out with my sisters and Angela (my younger sister's best friend) since she was spending the night. We did fun makeovers, meaning that we were all wearing an outrageous amount of make-up. We kept joking that we were connecting with either our inner diva or our inner drag queen. We have the embarassing pics to prove it. Anyway, I had fun. I didn't end up getting to bed until around 3 in the morning and then I was expected to wake-up to work on homework today. Needless to say, I slept late.

I still have more homework to do, so I guess I need to stop stalling and get back to it. My work is never done, but I guess y'all know what that's like as well. I can't wait 'til I finish college so that I can stop worrying about homework, though I have this suspicious feeling that I will still be just as busy when I enter the work environment. I guess we can never get away from this lifestyle, but I think I would be bored out of my mind if I didn't have things to do all the time. Of course, then I would have more time to read :)
